you guys played a great game, nothing to be worried about, your team will be fine.
that second period was crazy, every time carolina came streaking in i cringed a little, if not for price that game would have been yours

I think this could prove to be a good loss. The Canes strength is the ability to generate tons of offense (like the 2nd period), but tonight is a good example that you can't play a 20-minute burst and beat good teams. It very much reminded of a loss to Boston earlier in the season where the Canes were dynamic in the 2nd period but were beaten for the other 2 periods.

Have to like the way Price rebounded. After a couple tough outings, you would ideally like to give him a little bit easier game to bounce back minus a ton of stress. He got a pretty tough challenge and was up to the task. That's a good measure of mental toughness.

lol price is a tank.... did you see his interview from the off day. he was ready for tonight, the guy needs to be challenged though, i feel with fewer shots on goal he quickly loses focus and lets in softies

This Canes team is definitely heading in the right direction. For moments tonight, I saw some serious shades of the 2006 squad. Attacking in waves. Contributions from the bottom 6 forwards. Teammates standing up for each other.

There's still work to be done (and there's still personnel moves that need to be made), but I'm feeling very good about this Carolina team right now.

The 2006 Canes would have bounced back from an incomplete game like tonight with a complete home win Saturday vs the Devils. Let's see what this 2013 team does.

Price stoled his first game of the year. It was about time. Leading teams need this from their goalie. If not, they are just average team.

Impressive game by the Canes. It was frightening how they played in the second period. Just to much to handle for the Habs squad and that says alot. Good playoffs team, but you need Ward.

"A few positives on the Canes side:
--Tlusty/EStaal/Semin were actually very good again. Semin seemed to get almost all of the good scoring chances and just had a rough night finding the net otherwise it could have been another night with a goal or even 2. It was an interesting juxtoposition with Semin (who has been the primary playmaker and a very good one) getting the majority of the chances to finish. I have seen enough Alexander Semin scoring nights against us to worry that finishing will be a long-term problem."

I disagree that Semin's play was a positive last night. I have been a fan of his this year but last night was not a good game for him. I was at the game and I counted at least 5 giveaways by him. He was not strong on the puck getting knocked off easily. The Habs fans sitting behind me were laughing and saying "He did it again." when he'd turn it over on one of his drop passes to nobody.

I like Semin as a player and I'm glad we picked him up but last night was not good. I would still like Rutherford to resign him.

Can anyone please post about a rundown on the end of lavas tenure in Carolina. Specifically how the team was Playing and any other circumstances leading up to it?

He was stubborn. He wouldn't put together a shut down line and insisted on running his system. Star players padded their statistics against the Canes on a routine basis. No matter how good your system is you need to be able to match your opponent's lines. The one size fits all does not work. He also frustrated Rutherford on his evaluation of talent. He gave up too quickly on some folks that Rutherford had acquired like Radim Vrbata and did not put them in a position where they could succeed.
